A Presidential Decree and Nuclear Dreams

So Trump's meddling again huh? This time with nukes. Not the fun explode y kind but these so called 'small modular reactors.' Apparently he's given the Nuclear Regulatory Commission a deadline a real 'tick tock' situation to approve these things pronto. Eighteen months? That's barely enough time to cook up a decent batch of… well never you mind. It seems Mr. President wants these things built and built fast. Color me intrigued.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission: A Bunch of Lab Nerds.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission are apparently a bunch of lab nerds and slow ones at that. According to the bigwigs over at GE Vernova these approval processes take longer than Jesse takes to understand a basic chemical equation. Trump's order could light a fire under their collective behinds potentially getting these mini reactors approved by 2027. A 'credible shot,' they say of having them running by 2030. Let's hope they don't screw the pooch like Jesse trying to follow simple instructions.

Small Reactors: The Future or Just a Flash in the Pan?

These 'Small Modular Reactors' or SMRs are supposedly the future. Smaller cheaper easier to build. Sounds like a dream doesn't it? But as I've learned nothing is ever that simple. Plant Vogtle that behemoth in Georgia is a prime example of how nuclear projects can go belly up costing billions and taking forever to finish. Maybe these SMRs can avoid that fate maybe they can't. But hey a guy can hope right? Just like I hoped I could retire peacefully after selling my product.

GE Vernova: The Kingpins of the Nuclear Game?

GE Vernova is leading the charge here and they seem pretty damn confident. They already got the go ahead to deploy their BWRX 300 reactor in Canada. First SMR in the West they brag. Meanwhile the Tennessee Valley Authority is lining up to build one of these things in Oak Ridge. And GE Vernova expects even more customers to jump on the bandwagon. This Strazik guy the CEO seems to think they're on the verge of something big. A 'very meaningful part of our business,' he calls it. Sounds a lot like my blue meth business back in the day.

Green is the New Blue (Meth That Is)

Turns out folks are willing to pay extra for nuclear power because it's 'clean.' No carbon dioxide emissions you see. It's like they're trying to be all environmentally conscious. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Suddenly everyone cares about the environment. Back in my day they only cared about the product damn the consequences.

A Word From Heisenberg...

So there you have it. Trump's pushing nukes GE Vernova's cashing in and the world's going green. I'm just a humble observer watching the game play out. But mark my words: this could be big. Or it could be a disaster. Either way I'll be watching. After all I am the one who knocks. Or in this case the one who comments on the future of energy. Just remember tread lightly.
