A Senator's Disapproval: Not Exactly 99.1% Pure
So it seems Ed Martin this guy Trump wanted as the U.S. Attorney for D.C. is having a little trouble. Senator Thom Tillis bless his heart decided he's not on board. Apparently Mr. Martin was a bit too sympathetic to some folks involved in that January 6th shindig. You know the one at the Capitol. I’ve dealt with tighter situations cooking up a batch in my RV. This is politics though; sometimes you’re the cook sometimes you're the RV.
January 6th: A Day That Keeps on Giving (Headaches)
Tillis is hung up on the January 6th thing. He thinks anyone who even got close to the Capitol that day should be doing time. Says Martin's alright but not for D.C. where all those cases are being handled. It's like trying to sell blue meth in Albuquerque – bad for business. Frankly I always thought Trump's blanket pardons were a bit… excessive. Then again who am I to judge? I've certainly never asked for any pardons no siree!
The Committee Conundrum: A Tie is Not a Win
Now it looks like Martin's nomination is stuck in the Senate Judiciary Committee. With Tillis against him the best he can hope for is a tie. And in this game a tie is just a slower loss. Chuck Grassley the committee chairman isn’t rushing to help either. Says he wants nominees who can actually win. Reminds me of trying to convince Jesse to stick to the recipe. Some things just aren’t meant to be.
Term Limits: Expiration Dates and Missed Opportunities
Martin's currently serving as interim U.S. Attorney but his time's running out in May. Sounds like his career is about to expire. Tillis claims his meeting with Martin went well but then drops the bomb about the pardons. It’s like saying the product looks great but the purity is only so so so no deal! You know sometimes politicians remind me of my old students – all talk and no substance.
Over Prosecution: A Matter of Perspective
Tillis admits Martin has a point about some people being over prosecuted but insists that plenty of them deserved prison time. It’s always a matter of perspective isn’t it? I mean I thought I was providing a valuable service to society and the DEA saw things a little differently. It's all about how you frame it I suppose. Just ask Saul.
Empire Business: Incomplete
So it seems another potential empire has crumbled before it even got started. Poor Ed Martin he should've known better than to get caught up in all this political BS. Sometimes you gotta know when to fold. And sometimes you just gotta say 'I am the one who knocks,' and walk away. Though maybe that's not the best advice in this situation. Heh.

Is there anyone in Washington who *isn't* compromised?

Well, that's certainly *unfortunate* for him.
