Say My Name: D1 Bids Farewell to Tech Titans

So I hear Dan Sundheim this Wall Street type has been playing a little game of musical chairs with his company D1 Capital's portfolio. Word on the street is he's kicked Meta Platforms and Spotify to the curb. Dissolved gone *poof*! Like vaporized by a ricin cigarette. Claims it’s just business but I bet there’s more to it than meets the eye. Probably some Jesse Pinkman type messing with the algorithm if you ask me.

I Am The Danger: D1 Pivots to Food and Finance

Now here's where it gets interesting. Seems like Mr. Sundheim is developing a taste for finance and…food? Charles Schwab Bank of America Instacart Reddit and U.S. Foods Holding Corp.? Sounds like someone’s planning a very elaborate dinner party. Or maybe he just realized everyone needs to eat even if the market crashes. Smart move. After all what’s the point of having money if you can't buy a Los Pollos Hermanos combo?

A Chemical Equation: Adding Reddit To The Mix

Reddit? Really? That's a bold move even for someone who used to work at Viking Global Investors. It's like trusting Badger and Skinny Pete to manage your assets. Maybe he's hoping to harness the power of meme stocks for good. Or maybe he just wants to be the top commenter on r/wallstreetbets. Either way it's a gamble and I respect that.

Tread Lightly: The Companies That Didn't Make the Cut

Bath & Body Works Philip Morris and Warby Parker? Cut! Slashed! I guess Sundheim has decided that the market has had enough of smelling good lighting up and seeing clearly. As for Restaurant Brands well maybe he just got tired of Burger King. I know I would. Frankly their “Whopper” is a goddamn eyesore! Maybe he’s more of a Los Pollos Hermanos kinda guy. (If you know you know).

Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: What Does It All Mean?

So what’s the deal here? Is Sundheim some kind of financial mastermind playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers? Or is he just throwing darts at a board and hoping something sticks? I’d say it’s a bit of both. After all nobody cooks up a masterpiece on their first try. It takes a little bit of chemistry a little bit of strategy and a whole lot of…respect.

Stay Out of My Territory: D1's Strategy

At the end of the day this is all just business. But let's be honest it's a damn interesting game. Sundheim is rearranging the pieces on the board making bold moves and taking risks. Whether it pays off or not remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: he’s not afraid to break bad. And I for one am enjoying the show. Just remember when you're dealing with the stock market you gotta tread lightly.
