The Game is Afoot!

The tranquility of Minnesota has been shattered disturbed by a most heinous crime! Late Sunday authorities apprehended a certain Vance Luther Boelter a name now etched in the annals of infamy. He stands accused of the Saturday killing of Minnesota Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. A politically motivated assassination they say. Elementary my dear Watson but the game is afoot!

A Double Dose of Disaster

But the wickedness did not end there oh no! Boelter allegedly shot Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in a separate attack Saturday morning. Thankfully they were in stable condition when last I checked. "When you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains however improbable must be the truth." And the truth it seems is far more twisted than one might imagine.

The Largest Manhunt... Elementary!

Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley in what can only be described as a slight exaggeration called it "the largest manhunt in the state's history." More than 20 SWAT teams scouring a large wooded area for our masked miscreant. Armed dangerous and clearly unbalanced. One might even say...mad! 'There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.' Clearly this was no ordinary crime.

Masks Lists and Law Enforcement's Lucky Day

Boelter it seems had a flair for the theatrical. A latex mask a law enforcement style uniform – the man fancied himself a regular Moriarty! He was carrying a list of other potential targets including a number of officials and lawmakers. "Data! Data! Data!" I can't make bricks without clay. This list my dear readers is our clay. It would seem our perpetrator also had other 'thoughts' written on this list. Intriguing don't you think?

The Aftermath: Mourning and Mayhem

Minnesota is in mourning. Statements of grief and condemnation poured in like rain on a London November. Gov. Tim Walz hailed Hortman as "the most consequential Speaker in state history." Sen. Amy Klobuchar remembered her as a true "public servant." President Trump in a rare moment of lucidity declared that "such horrific violence will not be tolerated." I quite agree with him.

The Plot Thickens...

While authorities believe Boelter acted alone they have not ruled out the possibility of assistance. "Everybody who did help him we will certainly hold them accountable for doing that," said Drew Evans superintendent the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The game my friends is far from over. There are always more clues to be found more secrets to be uncovered. The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. Perhaps it is time to observe more.
