A Sad Day for Football... and My DMs!

Hola folks! Leo Messi here. I woke up this morning to some pretty sad news – Jim Irsay the owner of the Indianapolis Colts has passed away. Now I know what you're thinking: 'Messi what do you know about American football?' Well let me tell you I've seen a game or two! And more importantly I know a great leader when I see one. Plus his daughters are always liking my Instagram posts so you know gotta pay my respects! Seriously though it's always tough to see someone who dedicated their life to something they loved leave us. And I heard he was a big Maradona fan too so points for that!

From Laughingstock to Super Bowl Champs: The Irsay Effect

I heard Irsay took the Colts from shall we say a 'not so good' team to Super Bowl champions. Reminds me a bit of my own journey eh? Some said I couldn't do it without Xavi and Iniesta some said I couldn't do it with Argentina... Well let's just say I proved them wrong. Irsay with the help of legends like Peyton Manning and Coach Dungy built something special in Indianapolis. That's something to be admired. It's like when I link up with a teammate for a beautiful goal – it takes everyone pulling in the same direction.

Health Battles and Rock 'n' Roll Dreams

The article mentions Irsay had some health issues in recent years. It's a reminder that even the strongest of us face challenges. What I found interesting is that he found solace and inspiration in rock 'n' roll. Now that's a guy after my own heart! I might not be shredding any guitar solos anytime soon but I appreciate a good beat. Maybe that's why I find my rhythm on the pitch... okay maybe that's a stretch but you get the idea.

From Ball Boy to Boss: A True Football Story

Starting as a ball boy and ending up owning the team? That’s a proper Cinderella story even better than when Leicester City won the Premier League! It shows passion dedication and a whole lot of hard work. Plus it's kinda like my story... from a small kid in Rosario to lifting the World Cup. Never give up on your dreams kids... unless your dream is to be a defender against me! Ha!

A Legacy That Will Echo in the Stadium

Jim Irsay's impact on the Colts and the city of Indianapolis is undeniable. He created a winning culture brought joy to fans and left a lasting legacy. And judging by his guitar collection he was clearly a man who knew how to live life to the fullest. He will be missed by many and his contributions to the sport will not be forgotten. I respect that! It's like when I retire (hopefully not for a long long time!) I want people to remember the joy I brought to the game.

Farewell Señor Irsay

So adios Jim Irsay. May you rest in peace and may your rock 'n' roll dreams live on. My thoughts are with his family his friends and the entire Colts organization. Time to dedicate some goals to his legacy. Now if you'll excuse me I have a training session... and a few Instagram comments to respond to. Hasta luego!
