La Pulga's Guide to Zen: It's Not Just About Dribbling
Hola everyone! Leo Messi here. You know me the guy who kicks the ball pretty good. But off the pitch? Let’s just say I’m trying to be more than just a goal machine. I've been reading about this Tim Ferriss guy and he's got some interesting ideas apparently gathered from very successful people. Turns out a lot of these folks are into meditation. Meditation can you believe it? I thought it was just for monks and people who wear those funny pants. But hey if it helps you focus like I do when I see an open net I'm in!
Inner Peace or Champions League? Why Not Both?
Ferriss talks about how meditation even the simple kind can really help. Apparently even Bill Gates is doing it now! He probably meditates about coding or something I don't know! The article talks about Transcendental Meditation. Sounds fancy like something you need a secret handshake to get into. I am thinking regular meditation might be just the ticket for me. It will keep me calm when Ramos is trying to take my legs out. It will help me focus better during penalty kicks. Maybe even help me understand what Neymar is saying! Just kidding Ney I love you buddy!
Running… Away From Defenders and Towards Enlightenment?
If sitting still isn’t your thing (and trust me it’s not always mine especially when I see a defender I need to embarrass) then Ferriss suggests running. Now *that* I can get behind! Running is like my second meditation when I'm on the pitch evading defenders. It's just me the ball and a beautiful green field. It will get me ready to be the first to win the World Cup and Eight Ballon d'Ors!
'No' Means 'Si' to Scoring Goals
Okay so meditation is one thing but this 'saying no' business? This is where it gets interesting. Steve Jobs said he was proud of saying 'no' to a bunch of ideas. See even a genius like Jobs understands the importance of focus. It's like when someone suggests I try a new type of free kick. Usually I say 'no thanks I'll stick to what works'. It's about prioritizing knowing what’s important. For me that's scoring goals spending time with my family and maybe the occasional empanada.
Buffett's Wisdom: Saying 'No' to Everything Except Money (Probably)
Warren Buffett the money guy apparently said that the difference between successful and *really* successful people is that the really successful ones say 'no' to almost everything. I guess he says 'no' to bad investments. I should ask him about my real estate plans. I am good at football but not sure about being a landlord!
Messi's Final Verdict: Meditate Say 'No' and Keep Kicking Ass
So there you have it folks. Meditation and saying 'no' are apparently key to success according to some very smart people. I'm going to give it a try. Who knows maybe it will help me score even *more* goals. Although honestly I'm not sure that's even possible! Remember be like Messi stay focused say 'no' to distractions and always strive for greatness. And if all else fails just dribble past everyone. It usually works. Adios!
