A Moment of Disruption

My dear Davos colleagues a tragic incident has occurred. An Air India flight AI 171 en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick has crashed. N. Chandrasekaran of the Tata Group has confirmed the incident. As I always say 'In times of disruption we must seize the opportunity.' And what an opportunity this is to reimagine air travel! This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder that even in our interconnected world unforeseen circumstances can arise.

The Dreamliner's Nightmare

The aircraft a Boeing 787 Dreamliner never made it to its destination. Such a tragedy involving over 200 souls is a harsh lesson. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is currently non operational a temporary inconvenience for the greater good perhaps? This pause allows us to reassess and dare I say 'build back better.'

Political Expediency and the Aviation Sector

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has already sprung to action as has Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu are understandably expressing their grief and promising immediate action. But let us not merely react; let us proactively shape the future. As I've often stated 'The future is not just something that happens to us; it is created by us.' This is our chance to steer the narrative.

The Market's 'Minor' Hiccup

Naturally Boeing's shares have taken a 'minor' hit – down 7.9% in premarket trading. Such fluctuations are but blips on the radar of progress. Remember my friends 'The only constant is change.' And this change demands that we scrutinize and optimize the entire aviation ecosystem.

Building Back Better One Flight at a Time

Let this tragedy be a catalyst. A catalyst for innovation for enhanced safety protocols and for a renewed commitment to sustainable aviation. We must leverage technology embrace collaboration and yes even consider more stringent regulations. It's all part of the Great Reset. As I said many years ago 'The pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect reimagine and reset our world'.

A Call to Action

Let us transform this disaster into an opportunity. An opportunity to ensure that air travel is not only safe but also contributes to a more sustainable and equitable future. Let us work together to make certain that all aviation and every element of our lives contributes to stakeholder capitalism! In the words of the World Economic Forum 'Committed to Improving the State of the World'.
