A Little War with My Morning Coffee?

Darling could this week get any more dramatic? Forget brunch and Cosmos; my Friday started with breaking news: the U.S. military is playing referee between Iran and Israel. Missiles flying defenses up – it’s like a real life action movie only less fabulous and way more terrifying. It’s all so… Middle Eastern isn’t it? And not in the 'exotic vacation' kind of way. As I sipped my latte I couldn’t help but wonder: is world peace just another unattainable designer handbag? You know the kind you see in the window and sigh over knowing you’ll never actually own it?

Trump's Two Cents (and a Nuclear Deal)

Of course Trump had to weigh in. He's like that ex boyfriend who still texts you at 3 a.m. – always got something to say even if nobody asked. Apparently he's urging Iran to strike a nuclear deal 'before there is nothing left.' Honey if only relationships were as easy to fix as a bad dye job. He even bragged about American equipment which let's be honest is probably true. As he said "The United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World." As if this was a beauty pageant for weapons! It made me think are we just accessories in someone else's geopolitical game? And if so are we at least fabulous accessories?

From 'Rising Lion' to Falling Stocks

Israel decided to call their little shindig 'Operation Rising Lion.' How very… masculine. Meanwhile Iran retaliated and suddenly Wall Street got the jitters. The Dow Jones dropped like my standards when I see a cute guy in a suit. It seems fear is the ultimate market disrupter. Stock markets closed lower Friday as Iran's retaliatory strikes fueled fears of a broader regional conflict. Honestly what's a girl to do when even her investments are as unstable as a Tinder date?

Talks on Hold: Did Someone Say 'Suspended'?!

Just when you thought things couldn't get messier the nuclear negotiations scheduled for this weekend were put on hold. Suspended! It's like when Aidan put polyurethane on my floor and then ran away! Are these talks just another casualty of war or a dramatic pause before the grand finale? The Oman News Agency and Iranian state television announced the talks were suspended until further notice. And the U.S. said it was briefed by Israel on the attacks which were launched early Friday local time but did not participate in them. It's like the friend who watches you make all the bad decisions and then says 'I told you so!'

Iranian nuclear sites hit: Did someone turn the volume up?

Israel said it had struck Iranian nuclear sites in Isfahan and Natanz along with many other targets. Israeli Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said the attacks dubbed Operation Rising Lion in addition to targeting Iran's nuclear program are intended to degrade the nation's long range missile capabilities NBC reported. Meanwhile two Iranian news agencies reported that two explosions were heard near the nation's Fordo nuclear enrichment site according to NBC. It made me wonder is war the next loud trend? Like the 80s but with missiles!

The Search for Peace (and a Good Man)

So here we are darling. Missiles threats and a world holding its breath. It all feels a bit much even for this city girl. As I looked out my window I thought maybe just maybe what we all need is a little less drama and a lot more understanding. And perhaps a really really good shoe sale. But in the meantime I couldn't help but wonder in a world filled with conflict is peace the ultimate accessory that never goes out of style?
