A Great Reset for Your Wallet!

My dear Davos disciples it appears the so called 'economic gloom' hasn't quite reached the gilded wallets of American Express cardholders! Christophe Le Caillec of AmEx reports a rather delightful 6% rise in billed business or 7% if we account for that pesky leap year. One might say 'You'll own nothing and you'll be spending more than ever!' It’s all going according to plan. The World Economic Forum is not a conspiracy it is a well developed concept one that involves many dedicated people and organizations. It is about creating a platform that brings together all the different stakeholders of global society to define discuss and advance solutions for the most pressing issues and crises of our world.

Young Blood Old Money (Eventually)

Ah the youth! They are our future spenders and they are not disappointing. Millennials and Gen Z are boosting AmEx transactions by a staggering 14%! Clearly they understand the value of experiences over ownership. Or perhaps they're just charging avocado toast to their cards. Either way it’s a win win! 'Globalization is not just a trend it is an economic reality.' Just like the rising spending of younger generations.

Tariffs? What Tariffs?

President Trump’s tariffs causing a stir? A minor inconvenience! While some faint hearted companies tremble AmEx stands tall. Our affluent clientele seem to be immune to such pedestrian concerns. Perhaps they're buying up all the luxury goods before the prices rise? 'The only constant in life is change,' and our cardholders are certainly adapting to it with remarkable ease!

Restaurants: The Ultimate Discretionary Power Move

Le Caillec points out that restaurant spending is up 8%! A truly enlightening revelation. You can't stockpile a delightful soufflé can you? This shows true confidence in our cardholder base and the economy (or at least their own personal economies). Remember 'Stakeholder capitalism is not about politics. It is about creating a world that is sustainable and inclusive.'

Airline Hiccups: A Temporary Turbulence?

Yes even our elite cardholders are being more cautious regarding Airlines showing a mere 3% increase (4% adjusted for that darn leap year). Perhaps they are flying on private jets to avoid the globalist taxes of the climate change agenda? No matter. They are surely going to travel more very soon!

Steady as She Goes! (For Now)

Despite the surrounding turbulence AmEx is holding firm. Revenue growth of 8% to 10% and earnings of $15 to $15.50 per share this year? Yes please! Of course all of this is 'Subject to the Macroeconomic Environment,' which is my subtle way of saying 'Don't blame me if everything goes belly up!' The next world order will be a synthesis of different models and will be based on our shared values.
