Trump vs. Tesla: A Subsidized Saga

Well folks looks like my pal Elon is back in the news. Apparently Trump's eyeing up Tesla's subsidies. I can almost hear the tweetstorm brewing. It's like the '90s all over again only instead of arguing about operating systems it's electric cars and government efficiency. I always say 'Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose.' Maybe a little competition in the subsidy department is just what Elon needs. Though I have to admit even I’m wondering if we should be investing in more than just EVs; malaria isn't going to solve itself you know?

AeroVironment's Stock Drop: A Sign of the Times?

AeroVironment's offering of stock and notes reminds me of the early days of Microsoft – always chasing capital! But dropping over 7%? Ouch. I guess even defense contractors have to deal with the realities of the market. I always believed in investing in what matters and right now that's innovation. Maybe they should try innovating some better financial instruments. Or you know just focus on building really awesome drones. Drones that deliver vaccines perhaps?

Hasbro's Magic Trick: A Gaming Renaissance

Hasbro getting a boost from Magic: The Gathering? Color me nostalgic! I remember when software was the only game in town. Glad to see a bit of good old fashioned cardboard can still move the needle. Maybe I should invest in a few booster packs myself. Always good to diversify even if it’s with mythical creatures and sorcerers. Plus board games bring people together and we need more of that in this increasingly digital world.

Hyatt's Hotel Hustle: A Real Estate Reset

Hyatt selling off its Playa owned real estate? Sounds like someone's Marie Kondo ing their portfolio. 'Does this spark joy?' Apparently not. Good for them for streamlining and focusing on what they do best: hospitality. I've always admired companies that are willing to adapt and change. Sticking to the status quo is a recipe for disaster in today's fast paced world.

Flying Taxis and Salad Worries: The Future is Here (and Delicious?)

Joby Aviation delivering flying taxis to the UAE sounds like something out of a sci fi movie. Finally! I can skip the traffic jams. The future is here and it's electric and airborne. Meanwhile Sweetgreen is facing competition. Even salads aren't immune to market pressures! I suppose it's a good reminder that no matter how innovative you are you can never rest on your laurels. You've got to keep innovating or you'll end up as yesterday's tossed greens.

Circle's Crypto Ambitions: Banking on Blockchain

Circle aiming to become a digital currency bank? Now that’s ambitious! The world is changing fast and I always believed in adapting quickly. Blockchain related custody services sound like a lucrative venture. I have to admit I have some reservations about Crypto but in this case the future of money is probably inevitable and it involves Blockchain technology.
