Oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz as tensions escalate in the Middle East.
Oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz as tensions escalate in the Middle East.

Uh Oh Trouble Brewing in the Middle East

Aw phooey! Seems like things are gettin' mighty tense over in the Middle East. I read a story today that's got my feathers ruffled somethin' fierce. This Donald fellow – not me mind you some other guy – says he's gonna "avenge" some folks. And then there's talk about Iran and… oh boy it's enough to make a duck dizzy. Makes me wanna hide in my houseboat with a lifetime supply of orange juice. "I'm too young to be old and too old to be young".

The Strait of Hormuz is the Key to Calm Seas

Now this Strait of Hormuz see it's a big deal. It's like the main street for oil tankers. If that gets blocked BOOM we're talkin' big trouble. One expert is saying a closure would cause a recession. Can you imagine? No more shiny new yachts for yours truly. Gosh! I think it is important that we look into India's Boeing Bonanza A $80 Billion Sky High Deal to understand global economies and their relations.

Oil Prices Go Quackers

And wouldn't ya know it oil prices are already goin' bonkers. Up over 7 percent they say. Tankers are parked lookin' all nervous. I hope I filled up my gas tank yesterday. If not I will have to sell my car and get on my nephews nerves Huey Dewey and Louie.

Airlines Grounded

As if that wasn't enough airlines are canceling flights left and right. Air India's stoppin' flights to the Middle East and even to Europe and the U.S. on some routes. I am so tired of this kind of situation. It is like the world is against me.

Recession Looms

All these experts are sayin' the same thing: if this Strait of Hormuz stays closed we're headed for a global recession. Folks will be hordin' oil like it's gold and there'll be a big ol' bidding war. That sounds like somethin' out of one of Uncle Scrooge's adventures.

What It All Means

So what does this all mean for you and me? Well it means hold on to your hats folks. Things could get bumpy. Keep an eye on the news and maybe start savin' up some clams. And remember as I always say "Aw phooey". I've got a bad feeling about this. Let's hope things calm down soon so I can get back to enjoyin' a peaceful life of leisure... or at least try to before Gladstone Gander shows up.
