A Game of Two Halves Negotiations or Nah
Hola folks. Lionel Messi here and while I usually stick to dribbling past defenders this news about Trump's 'peace plan' with Iran is like trying to score a goal with two left feet. One minute they're 'in negotiations,' the next Iran is saying 'Not now. Not ever.' It's more confusing than trying to understand offsides. Seems like everyone's playing a different game with different rules and the only thing clear is absolutely nothing. Just like my early days some teammates pass some don't want to... its always hard to tell.
Fifteen Points A Winning Formation?
This 15 point plan sounds like a complex formation on the field. Trump says keeping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is 'No. 1 2 and 3'. That's like saying the most important thing in soccer is scoring goals which let's be honest it is. But is this plan the key to victory or just another way to pass the ball around without actually getting anywhere? And what about the Arizona Election Audit Records Subpoenaed by Federal Grand Jury maybe that is a more important topic than any of this? The world is crazy nowadays.
Behind the Scenes Dribbling Diplomatic Efforts
It seems like Pakistan is playing the role of midfield maestro trying to assist both sides. Prime Minister Sharif offering to facilitate talks is like that perfectly weighted through ball that splits the defense. But will Trump accept the pass? And will Iran be in the right position to score? As they say in Rosario 'La pelota siempre al 10' (the ball always to the number 10) but sometimes even I need a good assist.
Troop Deployments A Defensive Line
While the diplomats are talking the Pentagon is readying troops like building a solid defensive line. Deploying thousands of soldiers sends a clear message which is always the best thing to do. It's like parking the bus but instead of in front of your goal parking it in the Middle East. I never understood parking the bus though play to win.
Winning the War Already The Final Whistle
Trump claims the US has already won the war because Iran has agreed not to have nuclear weapons. That's like saying you've won the Champions League in the group stage. It's a good start sure but there's still a long way to go. And with a $200 billion funding bill on the table it sounds like they're planning for extra time and penalties. It's never over until it's over as my good friend Johan Cruyff used to say probably.
Sensitive Discussions High Stakes Game
The White House is playing it close to the chest saying they won't negotiate through the media. It's like keeping your tactics secret before a big game. But in this high stakes match the world is watching every move. Let's hope they can find a way to score a real victory for peace without any offside drama. Remember even the best players need a bit of luck now and then. Let's hope for a bit of luck here.
