Khamenei Bites the Dust

Alright listen up. Word on the street is the Ayatollah kicked the bucket after some fireworks courtesy of our friends across the pond. Now Iran's in a scramble to find a new head honcho. "Looks like it's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum."

The Almighty Assembly

So who gets to pick the new Ayatollah? It's this crew called the Assembly of Experts. Eighty eight robed fellas deciding the fate of a nation. Talk about pressure. They're vetted by the Guardian Council so they're guaranteed to be bad dudes. And when these guys get together it's anyone's guess what'll happen. The clock is ticking and the Assembly of Experts retains sole constitutional power to choose Iran's next supreme leader. The Shortlist of Doom

Who are the contenders? First up Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei the current Chief Justice. This guy's been knee deep in Iranian politics for decades. Next Hassan Khomeini grandson of the OG Ayatollah. Could be a bridge to some much needed reforms. Then there's Alireza Arafi a big shot in the religious hierarchy. Seems like a real party eh?

Interim Mayhem

While the Assembly is twiddling their thumbs a temporary council is running the show. President Masoud Pezeshkian Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei (him again?) and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi. These guys are just seat warmers but you know what they say "never trust a guy with a clean shirt."

Market Mayhem

Even the betting markets are getting in on this. Mohseni Ejei is the frontrunner but some folks are betting on the whole Supreme Leader gig getting scrapped. Now that's what I call a Hail Mary. "My money's on the blonde with the big guns."

What Happens Next?

Nobody knows for sure. Could be a hardliner doubles down on the crazy or maybe someone tries to chill things out a bit. One thing's for sure this is gonna be one hell of a ride. "Come get some."
