She's Down Jim!
Alrighty then folks! Ace Ventura here reporting live from… well not exactly the scene of the crash 'cause ya know paperwork. But I've got my ear to the ground listening to the jungle drums – and let me tell ya they're saying a U.S. KC 135 refueling plane took a nosedive in Iraq. Initial reports say it wasn't enemy fire but hold your horses! The Islamic Resistance in Iraq is claiming responsibility faster than you can say 'Allllrighty!'
Friendly Skies? More Like Frenemy Skies!
So CentCom is saying this happened in "friendly airspace." Friendly? Maybe to the folks on the ground sipping chai. But for that KC 135 it was more like a scene from 'Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls' – chaotic and definitely not friendly. Word on the street is this was during Operation Epic Fury. Sounds more like Operation Epic Flurry of confusion if you ask me. And speaking of confusion you should check out the article on Nuclear Brinkmanship Iran and US Trade Sanctions Standoff to see how this all fits into the bigger picture!
Iranian Ire: You'll Be Sorry!
Now Iran's security chief Ali Larijani is throwing down the gauntlet saying the U.S. will be "sorry" for starting this whole shebang. He's tweeting up a storm while their new supreme leader is threatening to shut down the Strait of Hormuz. That's like threatening to close the toilet on the entire world's economy. Things are getting stinky folks.
Strait is Shut? You Cannot Be Serious!
The Strait of Hormuz… that little ol' waterway is suddenly the most important piece of real estate since… well since Finkle was Einhorn! Apparently this Khamenei fella thinks closing it will put the squeeze on Uncle Sam. But mark my words closing that strait could send oil prices higher than a giraffe's eyebrows!
200 Dollar Crude Oil SHIKAKA!
Iran is also warning that oil prices could skyrocket to $200 a barrel. $200! That's enough to make even the most die hard gas guzzler think twice about driving to the grocery store. Zolfaqari Iran's military mouthpiece is blaming the U.S. for destabilizing the region. It's a real finger pointing fiesta folks.
The Bottom Line: Avoid the Stich!
So what's the takeaway here? Tensions are high the stakes are higher and that KC 135 is probably having a worse day than I did when I lost Snowflake. The key to resolving this mess? Probably a white rubbery dealy… but seriously folks diplomacy. Before things get any more… 'alrighty then'.
