Trump's Soothing Words: Are We Out of the Woods Baby
Alright Austin Powers here reporting live from the groovy world of finance. Seems like the market was doing the Macarena all over the place until President Trump dropped some truth bombs about the U.S. Iran situation. He said the war could be "very complete pretty much," which sent the Dow Jones soaring higher than my mojo. Oil prices did a nosedive faster than I can say "Yeah baby yeah" Apparently investors thought this meant the oil supply disruption was gonna be shorter than a mini skirt in Carnaby Street. But hold on the Iranians are saying oil tankers better watch out in the Strait of Hormuz. Shagadelic baby
Ackman's NYSE Adventure: A Hedge Fund Goes Public Groovy
In other news the one and only Bill Ackman that hedge fund honcho is taking his game to the New York Stock Exchange. He's listing Pershing Square under the ticker symbol "PS." I guess he figures it's time for the public to get a piece of his mojo. It's a dual listing meaning you can buy either the regular shares or shares of his investment vehicle which will trade under "PSUS." Pershing Square already has like billions in commitments. This is HUGE. Speaking of huge Microsoft Stands Strong with Anthropic Amidst Pentagon's AI Concerns. It is just as amazing and important as this news.
Stagflation Alert: Is This the '70s All Over Again Baby
Oh behave! Some economists are getting a little worried about stagflation. That's when you have high inflation and slow growth like wearing bell bottoms in a disco inferno. The rising price of oil and that weak jobs report have got them twitching like Dr. Evil when he can't get his way. Of course they said the same thing after Ukraine and when Trump announced those tariffs but it didn't happen. Still the prediction markets are betting on a recession. The odds jumped higher than my platform shoes on Kalshi. Let's hope this doesn't turn into a real shag carpet crisis.
Anthropic vs. the Pentagon: A Righteous AI Rumble Yeah
Things are getting spicy in the AI world. Anthropic this hotshot AI company is suing the Pentagon. Apparently the Pentagon blacklisted them calling them a "supply chain risk". Anthropic says this is "unprecedented and unlawful" and hurting their business. They went from being the government's favorite to public enemy number one after disagreeing with the Pentagon's demands. Experts are worried this could set a bad precedent. It is so bad is almost villainous like Dr. Evil.
Automotive Alliance: When Rivals Become Bedfellows Baby
In the world of cars Stellantis is doing the unexpected and teaming up with some surprise suppliers for their new hybrid SUVs. Their first hybrid Jeep SUV in North America uses a system from Toyota backed Blue Nexus. And their extended range electric vehicles will use technology from Bosch. Automakers use supplier components all the time but it's unusual to see them using main systems from competitors like Toyota. It is very unusual and a bit of a shock.
The Daily Dividend: Olaplex's Hair Raising Drop
Lastly a little something about luxury hair care. Olaplex has lost almost all its value since going public. That's a bigger drop than I felt when I lost my mojo. They're trying to regain Wall Street's confidence but it's gonna take more than a good shampoo and condition. Lets hope they find their mojo baby.
