Oops I Drilled It Again
Hey y'all Britney here. So I've been reading about this whole oil situation and honestly it's more complicated than my love life ever was. Apparently President Trump he made this big promise to "drill baby drill," which sounds kinda catchy like one of my songs. But now there's this war in Iran and it's messing everything up. It's like you think you've got it all figured out and then BAM life throws you a curveball faster than a paparazzi chase.
Not a Girl Not Yet an Oil Tycoon
So the deal is Trump and the Republicans they really went all out trying to make things good for the oil companies. They opened up new land for drilling and slashed regulations. It's like giving a kid a credit card and saying "Go wild." But now with this war the Strait of Hormuz is basically closed which is a big problem because that's where a lot of the world's oil comes from. It's like you can have all the fancy outfits and dance moves but if the music stops what are you gonna do? And speaking of music check out U.K. Spring Statement Preview No Fireworks Expected. It's a totally different kind of drama but hey variety is the spice of life.
Toxic Oil Spill or Just Toxic Politics
Senator Heinrich he's saying that no matter how much we drill we can't make up for the amount of oil that's being blocked. And he's right. Even if we go all out it's gonna take months to get back to normal. It's like when I tried to learn the tango in a day – it's just not gonna happen. There are limits to everything even my ability to rock a catsuit.
Gimme More Oil Gimme Gimme
Apparently this whole "drill baby drill" thing was Sarah Palin's catchphrase way back when. It's been a Republican rallying cry ever since. But here's the thing even with all the drilling in the world we're still tied to global markets. So when something goes wrong in the Middle East we feel it in our gas prices. It’s like you can have all the diamonds in the world but if you can't find your keys you're still stuck.
Stronger Than Yesterday's Oil Prices
Brian Prest this economist guy he's saying that we'd need a HUGE increase in U.S. production to make a difference. And even then it’s gonna take time. We have made great strides in horizontal drilling and fracking that increase output in places like the Permian Basin in New Mexico and Texas so the future looks promising. It's not something that can happen overnight. It's like trying to build a castle out of sand – it takes a lot of time and patience and eventually the tide comes in anyway. But there is no doubt that my music has been getting me through this challenging process.
Oops...I Did It Again (With a New Perspective)
So what's the takeaway from all this? Well even though Trump's trying to boost oil production we're still at the mercy of what's happening in the world. Senator Hoeven said that drilling more will help in the long run but the short term solution is to open up the Strait of Hormuz. It's like saying you're saving for retirement while your house is on fire. You gotta deal with the immediate crisis first. And in the meantime I think I'll stick to driving my Tesla. At least that's one less thing to worry about. Stay strong y'all and remember sometimes you just gotta roll with it.
