MTIA What Even Is That

So apparently these chips are called MTIA which stands for Meta Training and Inference Accelerator. Fancy right? The first one MTIA 300 is already up and running helping to decide what dumb stuff you see on Facebook. It's all about showing you relevant content which probably means more ads for Cheesy Poofs. I guess that makes them smarter at deciding which stupid ads you should be seeing. Meta Vice President of Engineering Yee Jiun Song told CNBC that by designing custom chips they can squeeze more price per performance [CONTENT]. Generative AI Gonna Take Over

But that's not all. Meta's got more chips coming – MTIA 400 450 and 500. These bad boys are for making AI generated pictures and videos. So get ready for even MORE fake news and deepfakes all over the internet. That's the beauty of technology you guys. You can create anything you want especially if it involves making fun of Kyle. Data Centers Are the New Theme Park

To power all this AI nonsense Meta is building giant data centers all over the place including Louisiana Ohio and Indiana. They're even sniffing around a site in Texas. It's like they're building their own little theme park but instead of roller coasters it's full of computers and servers. I bet they don't even have a good gift shop. Probably just sell Facebook t shirts. Lame.

HBM Shortage Oh My God

Apparently there's a shortage of something called HBM which is needed to make these AI chips work. Meta is "absolutely worried" about it. If they can't get enough HBM then all their plans will go down the drain. Like the time I tried to start my own amusement park Cartmanland. Taiwan Semi Is Our Savior

The company making these chips is called Taiwan Semi which primarily operates out of Taiwan. Meta declined to comment on whether the chips will be made in Arizona. The majority of Meta's "substantial team" of engineers working on the silicon are based in the U.S. Of Meta's 30 total operational and planned data centers 26 of them are in the U.S.
