A Bargain with the Gods of Energy

Hmph. Another day another conflict. This time it seems the mortals in the White House are tossing gold at TotalEnergies a giant even I Kratos have not battled... yet. They pay this... corporation a hefty sum – a billion shekels no less – to abandon their flimsy wind contraptions off the East Coast. Wind farms they called them. Flimsy structures ripe for destruction. It seems even the mortals recognized their folly.

From Breeze to Blaze The Fuels of Tomorrow

Instead of harnessing the breath of Gaia this TotalEnergies turns its gaze towards the earth's molten heart – natural gas and LNG. They speak of investing in the Rio Grande LNG plant in Texas and tapping into the veins of the earth for oil and shale gas. "Affordable reliable natural gas projects," they proclaim. As if reliability is solely determined by burning the earth's guts. This echoes the words of gods who favored power over wisdom. Speaking of power have you seen Nissan's e Power Hybrid Revs Up U.S. Market A New Dawn for Electric Like Drives? That is a much more balanced path.

Trump's Fury and Shifting Sands

The former leader Trump apparently detested these wind farms deeming them unsightly and costly. A sentiment I can almost relate to. Ugly things must be destroyed. But is natural gas any less a monster? Each choice comes with its own set of fangs and claws. Mortals always choosing the lesser of two evils never truly seeking balance.

National Security or Environmental Heresy?

They hide behind the shield of "national security," claiming the Iran conflict demands increased LNG exports. The largest exporter of liquefied natural gas the U.S. becomes a key supplier for Asia and Europe. All this posturing and what of the environment? Is this not a betrayal of the earth that sustains them? Are they so blind to the consequences of their greed?

The CEO's Pact with Power

TotalEnergies' CEO Pouyanné sings a song of support for the current regime’s energy policy. He claims offshore wind is not in the country’s interest preferring instead to fuel Europe with LNG and power U.S. data centers. A shrewd move no doubt but one that reeks of self interest cloaked in patriotism. Mortals and their endless pursuit of profit… a cycle as predictable as Ragnarok itself.

A Faustian Bargain for All Americans?

The Interior Secretary Burgum hails this as a victory for affordable energy. He calls offshore wind "expensive unreliable environmentally disruptive and subsidy dependent." He welcomes TotalEnergies' pledge to lower monthly bills. Are lower bills worth sacrificing the health of the planet? A question they seem incapable of answering truthfully. Perhaps one day they will learn that true strength lies not in domination but in harmony. But I doubt it. Boy.
