Yo Adrian We Gotta Talk Animation
Listen up folks. It's your pal Rocky Balboa here. I read this article see about this Paramount and Warner Bros. thing. Sounds like a real rumble in the jungle this merger. But they got this problem see? They ain't got the cartoon muscle to go toe to toe with the big boys like Disney and Universal. It's like going into the ring with Apollo Creed without training. You're gonna get knocked out faster than you can say "Yo Adrian".
The Eye of the Tiger and the Lack of Cartoons
This article says that since 2016 Paramount and Warner Bros. each put out eight animated movies. That sounds like a lot right? But they only made a fraction of what Disney and Universal did. Disney's makin' billions with them animated flicks. Billions. That's more than I ever made in the ring and I took a lotta punches. This merger see it's gotta figure out how to make cartoons that bring in the crowds. Otherwise they're gonna be stuck in the minor leagues. It's gonna be a Housing Bill Faces Rocky Road Ahead for them harder than fighting Drago in Russia.
PG Power Punch for the Whole Family
Now the article also mentions somethin' important: PG rated movies are killin' it at the box office. Makes sense right? You get the whole family in there from the little rugrats to the grandparents. It's like gettin' the whole crowd cheerin' for ya. If they wanna win Paramount and Warner Bros. gotta aim for them movies that everyone can enjoy. Think 'Rocky' but with talking animals. Maybe a squirrel that boxes. I'm just spitballin' here.
Not Just a One Round Fight
Another thing this article points out is that animated movies got staying power. They don't just make all their money in the first week. They stick around gettin' word of mouth like a good jab that slowly wears down your opponent. So if they make a good cartoon it's gonna keep makin' money for a long time. It's like that statue of me in Philly. Still bringin' in the tourists see?
SpongeBob and Smurfs to the Rescue?
Now Paramount and Warner Bros. ain't startin' from zero. They got some heavy hitters already. SpongeBob the Smurfs Paw Patrol them Ninja Turtles. These are brands people know and love. They just gotta use 'em right. Gotta make 'em fresh gotta make 'em exciting gotta make 'em… wait for it… believable. Okay maybe not believable but you get my drift.
Gonna Fly Now... With Cartoons
So what's the bottom line here? This Paramount and Warner Bros. merger it's got a chance to be somethin' big. But they gotta focus on them cartoons. Gotta invest gotta be creative and gotta make movies that families wanna see. Otherwise they're gonna be singin' the blues. And nobody wants to hear that. Especially not me. Now if you'll excuse me I gotta go train. There's always another fight see?
