A Purr fect Storm of AI Demand
As Puss in Boots I've seen a few storms in my nine lives but this one brewing in the tech world is truly something special. Micron as I understand isn't just surviving; it's thriving thanks to the insatiable appetite of these newfangled AI contraptions. It appears that every whirring calculating gizmo needs more and more memory and Micron is there with a pawful of solutions. It is truly incredible. The revenue has almost tripled. Someone bring me a saucer of leche.
Analysts Gobsmacked by Grand Guidance
Even the wisest cats or analysts as they call themselves were left speechless by Micron's projected earnings. They expected a fair bounty but Micron delivered a treasure chest overflowing with gold doubloons. The company expects about $33.5 billion in revenue. Remember 'This is the ultimate showdown. Of ultimate destiny.' And in this showdown Micron seems to be holding all the cards. The degree is essential for this industry but it is not the only determining factor for success as explained in the article Engineering Degrees: The New 'Blank Space' in Career Success.
Capacity Expansion: Building Empires of Memory
What does a swashbuckling gato do when opportunity knocks? He builds an empire of course. Micron isn't just resting on its laurels. No they're sinking their claws deep into the earth constructing colossal campuses to pump out even more memory. Idaho and New York are about to become memory meccas promising a future where no AI shall ever be memory starved. One can only dream how important this is.
Long Term Contracts: Securing the Future
Gone are the days of fleeting romances and here are the long term commitments. Memory companies are locking in long term contracts a sign that the industry is maturing and that these chip makers are serious about securing their future. As I always say 'Fear. Fear me if you dare'. Well perhaps that’s more for the villains but the point is securing your future is always a wise move.
HBM: The High Bandwidth Hero
High Bandwidth Memory or HBM as the cool cats call it is the hero of this story. It's embedded in Nvidia's latest GPUs and other AI chips enabling them to perform feats of computational wizardry. Micron's HBM4 is already in volume production and HBM4e is on the horizon. It seems that the future is fast furious and filled with high bandwidth adventures. Micron said on the earnings call that volume production of HBM4 for Nvidia's Vera Rubin started in the fiscal first quarter.
The AI Age: Micron's Moment in the Sun
Micron believes and perhaps rightly so that it stands to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this AI revolution. As compute architectures become more memory intensive Micron's role becomes ever more critical. It's a bold claim but with the current trajectory it may just be the simple truth. All of this is a very interesting read. Indeed I would say.
