Trump's Grand Plan: A "Fix" is on the Way

It's a me Mario and I've a been following this story closely. Seems like ex President Trump is a not happy with the way things are going in college sports. He says the NIL (Name Image Likeness) payments are a making a "mess," and he's a promising an executive order to fix everything. "We'll be sued and we'll go before the courts and here we go again," he said. Sounds like a someone's ready for another adventure just like when I face Bowser. But instead of fire breathing turtles it's a lawyers and judges.

The Mushroom Kingdom Weighs In: Is This "Game Over" for College Sports?

Now I've a jumped through a few hoops in my time but this NIL situation is a complicated. Trump thinks college sports will be "destroyed" if something isn't done. He even says women's sports will be in trouble. That's a pretty strong language even for someone who's a faced King Koopa! Speaker Johnson suggested that Trump allow Republicans in Congress to try to address the purported problem by continuing to try to pass the so called SCORE Act which the NCAA has backed. Money Money Money: It's a All About the Coins

The meeting came less than a year after a federal judge signed off on the House v. NCAA settlement which allowed colleges to spend up to $20.5 million per year with annual increases of that amount to directly pay their athletes. "The amount of money being spent and lost by otherwise very successful schools is astounding just in a short period of time," Trump said. "It's only going to get worse. "It's crazy," Trump said. "Young people are being signed 17 year old quarterbacks for $12 million 13 million 14 million." It's like collecting coins in the Mushroom Kingdom but on a whole new level. Schools are a spending big money and Trump thinks it's a getting out of hand.

Seven Year Freshmen? That's a a New One Even for Me

Trump is a saying some crazy things are happening. "We have a seven year freshman," he said. "We're seeing things that we've never seen before. We have college players that don't want to go to the NFL because they're making more money in college right?" Even I've a never seen a seven year freshman! Maybe he's a been eating too many Super Mushrooms. The rules are a changing and it's a hard to keep up.

Critics vs. Advocates: Who's a Right?

Critics of the NIL system say it's a hurting the schools' finances and their educational goals. But others say it's a only fair that athletes get paid for their hard work. It's a like the age old question: Should I save the princess or should I grab the extra 1 Up? Both sides have a good points and it's a tough to say who's a right.

Will Trump's Order Save the Day? Only Time Will Tell

So will Trump's executive order fix everything? Will it be a enough to calm the chaos in college sports? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: this is a going to be a wild ride. Just like when I jump down a warp pipe you never know where you're going to end up. But I'll be a here watching and reporting every step of the way. Wahoo.
