Trouble in the Waterway Ya hoo

It's a me Mario reporting live from… well not *exactly* live. Let's just say things are a bit too spicy for this plumber to be in the middle of it all. But I hear from good sources – reliable as a well placed Super Mushroom – that things are getting dicey in the Strait of Hormuz. Seems some vessels got a little too close to Bowser's… I mean *Iran's* territory and *wham* projectiles are flyin' like Koopa shells.

Projectile Plunge and Fiery Fallout

The UK Maritime Trade Operations – sounds important right? – says three ships got dinged. One even caught fire and had to be evacuated. Mamma mia that's hot. This all started happening after some shall we say disagreements between the U.S. Israel and Iran. Now I'm no geopolitical expert – I usually stick to rescuing princesses – but even I know that when the big boys start throwin' fireballs everyone gets burned. Global Supply Chain Stalled Like a Go Kart in Mud

This Strait of Hormuz you see is like the Mushroom Kingdom's main pipeline for… well not mushrooms but oil and gas. A whopping 20% of the world's supply goes through there. So when things get blocked up it's like tryin' to run a course with no power ups. Everything slows to a crawl. And that means higher prices for everyone – even Princess Peach's tea parties!

Trump's Tough Talk

Old Don – er I mean the U.S. President – chimed in sayin' somethin' about mines and wantin' them removed "IMMEDIATELY". Sounds like he's ready to jump down a pipe and give someone a knuckle sandwich. Me I prefer mushrooms but you know to each their own. But according to U.S. Central Command U.S. forces sank several Iranian ships on Tuesday including 16 minelayers near the Strait of Hormuz.

The Real Threat

Torbjorn Soltvedt some fancy analyst guy said that Iran is a *real* threat to shippin'. Seems like these attacks are just the tip of the iceberg. And if things don't cool down it could mean serious trouble for the whole world. "Iran's rapid and extensive retaliation against shipping and regional energy port and economic infrastructure has severed a vital artery in global supply chains as the flow of oil refined products LNG and chemicals grinds to a near halt," Torbjorn added the flow has grounded to a halt.

Proceed with Caution

So what's a poor plumber to do? Well I reckon it's best to stay out of the Strait of Hormuz for now. If you *have* to go through be extra careful. Keep your eyes peeled report anything fishy and maybe pack a Super Star for good luck. Because when things get this crazy you never know what's gonna happen next. It's a like Bowser is around the corner ready to kidnap Peach again. Just remember 'Here we go!' and move forward with caution.
