The Punchline: Nvidia's Playing Games
Alright folks let's talk about chaos. Or as you boring types call it "investments." Nvidia bless their little silicon hearts decided to throw a measly $4 billion at Lumentum and Coherent. Why? Because apparently they want to build a shiny new AI playground. Makes you wonder what else they're cooking up doesn't it? Maybe a robot that finally understands my jokes. Or maybe they are planning something bigger. As I always say "Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos."
Why So Serious About Coherent and Lumentum?
JPMorgan those suits are all giddy about it. They're saying it's a win win because it solidifies these companies against competition especially from overseas. Who cares about healthy competition when you can just buy your way to the top? Makes perfect sense. They also underscored that this highlights the importance of securing capacity particularly relative to U.S. manufacturing in addition to furthering [Nvidia's] relationship with both Coherent and Lumentum and as you know Anthropic CEO Faces Pentagon Showdown Over AI Use and its something that should be taken into consideration. It's all part of the plan see? I mean what is the plan anyway. Is there a plan. I dont know. Do you? "Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it."
Optics: A Long Con?
But here's the kicker: some killjoy named Mike Genovese at Rosenblatt says this whole co packaged optics thing won't be a real money maker until 2029. That's like waiting for Gotham to become crime free – never gonna happen. So it's a long game folks. A very long game. I mean what kind of game is worth playing is not going to provide you with the fireworks you need to continue. Is it really worth it? Or is it better to move on and play a different game?
S&P 500: A Clown Car of Stocks?
Rumor has it Lumentum and Coherent might waltz their way into the S&P 500. Oh the prestige. Suddenly these companies are too big for their midcap britches. But let's be honest the S&P 500 is just a popularity contest for corporations. Who cares if they're actually… valuable? That's not the point. That's never the point. As I always say: "It's not about the money. It's about sending a message. Everything burns."
The Analyst's Dilemma: Buy or Sell Your Soul?
Analysts are tripping over themselves to slap "buy" ratings on these stocks. Higher price targets visions of grandeur the whole nine yards. They're practically begging you to throw your money into this chaotic circus. But remember folks these are the same people who told you that beanie babies were a good investment. How about we put a smile on that face?
Chaos is the Ladder
So here we are. Nvidia's playing puppet master analysts are dancing like marionettes and investors are blindly following the parade. It's all so wonderfully predictable. Just remember in this game of AI and optics chaos is the only constant. "You see their morals their code it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you when the chips are down these civilized people they'll eat each other. See I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve."
