Mmm Wearable Tech
Well gather 'round everyone. Homer Simpson investigative reporter at your service. Seems these fancy pants companies EssilorLuxottica and Meta have cooked up something called AI glasses. Not sure what AI stands for maybe 'Artificial Idiot,' because who needs glasses that think for you? But get this they sold a whopping 7 million pairs last year. Seven million! That's like enough to equip everyone in Springfield twice with blurry vision. My expert opinion? People are suckers for gadgets. And donuts. Speaking of which...
Ray Bans and Brains?
Apparently these ain't just any glasses. We're talkin' Ray Ban and Oakley brand AI specs. They're calling it an "AI glasses revolution." Now I'm no scientist like Lisa but I'm pretty sure the only revolution I want involves a comfy couch and a never ending supply of Duff beer. Anyway these smarty pants glasses are doing something right because sales are through the roof. Wonder if they can see where I hid the last donut from Bart? If these glasses are so smart maybe they can solve the rising Healthcare Costs and help Small Businesses. Maybe the key is in the Healthcare Costs Skyrocket Small Businesses Face Grim Future.
Meta morphosis
Meta the company that probably knows more about me than Marge does is teaming up with EssilorLuxottica on this whole AI glasses shebang. They've been at it since 2019 which in Simpson time is roughly equivalent to three Krusty the Clown retirements. They launched a new version with hand gestures and neural technology. Neural technology eh? Sounds like something Dr. Hibbert would try to fix my brain with. I hope it doesn't involve any needles.
D'oh mand is High
So get this the demand for these doohickeys is so high Meta is pushing back their international launch. They might even double production. Double! That's like two donuts for the price of one. Or in this case a whole lot of fancy glasses for people who want to look like they're from the future. I'm still waiting for the future to deliver on flying cars and edible houses.
Partnership D'oh
Meta is so thrilled with these AI specs that they are extending the partnership for "the next decade." That is like a very long time. It seems people will buy pretty much anything especially if it makes them look like they are living in the future. I want the future to come faster especially if it comes with Beer.
See No Evil Hear No Evil Sell More Glasses
So there you have it. AI glasses are apparently the next big thing. Me? I'm still trying to figure out how to work the TV remote. But hey if it keeps those fancy companies happy and maybe creates a few more jobs for Springfielders I'm all for it. Just don't expect me to wear them. I'd rather see the world through my own beer goggles thank you very much. D'oh
