Another Day Another Mess in the Galaxy... I Mean Middle East

Alright people Ripley here. You think dealing with Xenomorphs is tough? Try navigating international politics. This whole situation with Ambassador Huckabee reminds me of Burke promising me a percentage. Always a catch isn't there? Now we have Huckabee bless his heart stirring up a hornet's nest with some biblical claims about Israel's right to… well pretty much the whole neighborhood. Makes you wonder if he's been spending too much time in cryo sleep.

Genesis and Geopolitics: A Match Made in… Space?

So according to this article Huckabee went on Tucker Carlson's show and started quoting Genesis. Genesis people seriously? Next thing you know someone will be citing Nostromo's flight manifest as a treaty document. The idea that modern day borders should be drawn based on ancient texts…it's like using an M41A pulse rifle to fix a toaster. Sure it *might* work but you're probably going to make a bigger mess. And speaking of messes the House Passes Contentious SAVE America Act Sparking Voting Rights Debate reminds me of the political battles back on Earth.

International Facepalm: Middle East Responds

Predictably Huckabee's comments went down like a lead balloon in the Middle East. I mean who could have possibly foreseen that suggesting one country should take over half the region wouldn't be a hit? We're talking about a joint statement from countries like Jordan Saudi Arabia and even Turkey. That's like getting the entire crew of the Nostromo to agree on a pizza topping. It never happens unless something is seriously wrong.

"Dangerous and Inflammatory": Sound Familiar?

The article quotes the joint statement calling Huckabee's remarks "dangerous and inflammatory". Reminds me of how the company described my report about the Xenomorphs. Funny how the truth often sounds dangerous when it challenges the status quo. It's all about plausible deniability. Let's see inflame political tensions in the Middle East or report on a new species of deadly aliens. Either way somebody's going to be unhappy. Least I don't have to fill out any TPS reports about aliens!

The U.S. Embassy Plays Damage Control (Again)

Of course the U.S. Embassy had to step in and say "Oh those aren't *our* views. He's just… expressing himself." Classic. It's like Burke saying he had no idea the Xenomorph was loose on the Nostromo. "Oops my bad!" You just have to wonder sometimes if these guys even talk to each other before opening their mouths. And if you do not talk to each other you will find an alien facehugger very soon.

So What Now? Just Another Tuesday?

So here we are. Another political kerfuffle another international incident another day where I wish I was back on the Sulaco blasting aliens. At least with Xenomorphs you know where you stand. With politics? It's always "Stay frosty," because you never know what's going to crawl out of the woodwork. The best thing to do is to just keep your head down keep your pulse rifle clean and hope we can all make it through this in one piece. Over and out.

I wish our leaders would focus on diplomacy and cooperation instead of stoking conflict.
