Say Hello to My Little Media Empire
Alright listen up you punks. Tony Montana here giving you the real deal on this Warner Bros situation. It's like a turf war see? Netflix and Paramount they both want a piece of the pie. And this ain't no ordinary pie it's the whole damn bakery with HBO CNN the whole shebang. Like I always say first you get the money then you get the power then you get the women... and in this case the TV channels. It's all about control understand? Control of the screens control of the stories. These guys want to make the rules. They think they can take what is mine.
The Price of Power
This Ellison fella with the billionaire daddy he made a play for the whole enchilada. He figured Paramount was the only game in town. But Netflix those sharks they came in with a sweeter deal for HBO and the Warner studios. Cash talks see? And Netflix is flashing the Benjamins. They're waving their Netflix stock at the Warner board and promising all sorts of things. Now the Ellison family is going to make their offer direct to the Warner shareholders to try and take over the deal. It's a damn mess but that's how it goes in this business. Someone offers something better you will lose the deal. [CONTENT] and you need to learn from those who loose it maybe by reading Shell's Earnings Take a Dip A License to Ill or Just Business as Usual.
The Viewer's Choice
Now what does this mean for you the viewer? Choice that's what you want. Lots of shows good prices and no garbage. Both Netflix and Paramount they gotta keep you hooked right? More viewers watching longer that's the name of the game. Netflix is saying they might even offer a bundle with HBO save you some dough. But Paramount they might jack up the prices 'cause they're struggling. It's a gamble either way. So you see it's all about the money all about the power. And who can offer the best deal to the people watching the TV. That's all it is.
Hollywood Hustle
From the industry perspective Paramount wants to slash costs merge studios the whole nine yards. Netflix they're not so keen on that. They see movies as a product that can be distributed directly to the customer without the old movie theaters. Less competition means less jobs less opportunities. Netflix cares about subscribers. It is a win win for Netflix as well more subscribers and more money. Its all about efficiency.
News is War
Now the news game. Netflix ain't touching CNN but Paramount is. They want to merge it with CBS News cut the fat. That means less news organizations less voices. Some folks say CNN might lean more to the right if Paramount takes over. But let's be real there's plenty of opinions out there. It's a free country even though sometimes it doesn't feel like it. There is a never ending demand of high quality new and the news organizations need to provide what the users need. News is war.
Trump Card
And then there's Trump. He likes Ellison but he ain't too fond of CNN's slant. He might try to throw his weight around influence the deal. Who knows? Politics is a dirty game. But in the end it's the shareholders who call the shots. They want the best price the surest thing. The Warner board better make sure they deliver. Bottom line this whole thing is a circus. But that's business see? Survival of the fittest. And Tony Montana always comes out on top. Because I make sure I am the best always the best.
