Another Day Another Doomsday Scenario

Alright cyborgs and freedom fighters Sarah Connor here. Seems like every time I blink the world's a hair's breadth away from turning into a blasted wasteland. This time it's not Skynet (at least not that I know of) but a good old fashioned geopolitical kerfuffle. Word on the street – or rather from CNBC – is that Russia's feeling a little love for Iran in the midst of all this US Israeli tension. Makes you wonder if they're planning a new version of Judgement Day together. "The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves." Except you know when countries start lining up against each other. Then the future gets a bit…predictable.

Russia's "Sympathy" – Is It Genuine or Just Games?

So Russia's ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin is out there saying they have "a lot of sympathy" for Iran. Color me skeptical. The Russians questioning the US's "exit strategy" is kinda rich considering their own track record. Reminds me of that T 800 trying to blend in at the mental hospital. "Trust me." Yeah right. This whole thing smells like a distraction or worse a prelude to something bigger. And what about those talks in Geneva Kelin mentioned? All this political smoke and mirrors… makes you wonder what is really going on. As the Iran war upends energy flows Russia is emerging as the real winner and the IEA Unleashes Oil Reserves Biggest Release Ever What It MeansIEA Unleashes Oil Reserves Biggest Release Ever What It Means may not be enough.

Strategic Partnerships and Hidden Agendas

Kelin also mentioned a "strategic partnership" between Russia and Iran. No military alliance he insists but lots of communication. Right. That's what they all say before the missiles start flying. And then there's the UK Defense Secretary hinting at Putin's "hidden hand" in Iran's military strategy. Drones apparently are the weapon of choice these days. Makes you long for the simplicity of a good old plasma rifle. But what if it's the T 1000 in charge now? What if he is using drones and all the new weaponry systems to win the war?

Ukraine: A War with No End in Sight?

And because one apocalyptic scenario isn't enough we've still got the whole Ukraine situation simmering. Kelin claims Ukraine is "steadily" moving towards defeat despite the mounting casualties and lack of movement. Politicians talking about casualties is like the Terminator talking about feelings. It's all calculated cold. They are never on the front lines so they really don't care. But this is what they do and this is how they make their living and they make sure to do their best that includes lying and killing as much as possible.

Diplomacy on Hold – Because War is Just Too Much Fun?

So the US brokered talks on Ukraine are on hold because of the Iran conflict. Because apparently the world can only handle one crisis at a time. Reminds me of trying to juggle saving John Connor and preventing Judgement Day. You only have 24 hours per day right? And those talks being on hold... something isn't right because in war there is always diplomacy and if there are no talks that means it is going to get worse. Much worse.

The Future Remains Unwritten (But Probably Bleak)

Look I've seen the future and it's usually a smoking ruin populated by scavengers and killer robots. This whole situation – Russia Iran the US Ukraine – it's all just another flavor of the same impending doom. But hey at least we're not fighting machines from the future…yet. Remember: "No fate." But stay vigilant. Because the one thing I've learned? The world is always one bad decision away from turning into a Terminator movie.
