It also sounds like the perfect location to build a new Death Star if one were inclined to such things. The refinery will process 100% American shale oil. This move is designed to strengthen national security and boost American energy production. One might even compare it to the construction of a fully operational and armed battle station...but for energy not galactic domination. Reliance Industries: The Force Behind the Refinery

The power behind this venture lies with Reliance Industries led by Mukesh Ambani. They are responsible for the $300 billion investment in the United States. Reliance owns the world's largest oil refinery in Jamnagar India. Their market capitalization stands at a staggering $206 billion. It appears even the most powerful Sith Lords need allies with deep pockets. As I have learned money is important even in a galaxy far far away.

The Price of Fuel Will Be Altered. Pray I Do Not Alter it Further

The refinery's opening comes at a time when global oil prices are already elevated due to conflicts in the Middle East. Higher fuel prices are beneficial for shale refiners. American First Refining indicated they have received a "9 figure investment from a global supermajor at a 10 figure valuation.". They also signed a 20 year deal to purchase process and distribute shale oil sourced and produced stateside. Such long term commitments remind me of the Emperor's own plans for galactic domination... which I assure you were *quite* long term.

Trey Griggs president of America First Refining noted that the United States has a surplus of light shale oil but a shortage of refining capacity. This refinery he says would strengthen the domestic supply chain. Strengthening domestic supply chains is a power the U.S. should have invested into a long time ago. Now the U.S. has a new weapon: energy independence.
