The Fire is Catching
Well folks seems like the Capitol is more on fire than District 12 ever was. Remember when I said "If we burn you burn with us"? Looks like some folks are finally feeling the heat. This time it's Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick who's got more problems than a mockingjay in a hovercraft. Turns out his ties to that…that creature Jeffrey Epstein were deeper than a mine shaft in District 12. And now everyone's screaming for his head. Reminds me of the time they wanted to blame everything on Peeta and me. Funny how power works isn't it? They build you up then they tear you down. But this ain’t about bread and circuses; this is about something much darker something that makes the Capitol’s games look like child’s play.
Schiff Hits the Mark
Senator Adam Schiff a name I never thought I’d utter outside of some Capitol gossip is leading the charge claiming Lutnick "lied to the country." Lied to the country… sounds familiar doesn’t it? It's like the time President Snow tried to convince everyone that Peeta and I were madly in love and then tried to have him killed. Schiff says Lutnick has "no business being our Commerce Secretary" and should resign. Frankly I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say it. And then there's Representative Thomas Massie who's also calling for Lutnick's head. He mentioned that several British officials were toppled over appearances in the Epstein files. Speaking of Europe there's an interesting story on Europe Defies US Tech Turmoil Stocks Soar as AI Fears Grip America – you might want to check that out while this Lutnick mess unfolds.
The Island is Burning
Massie points out that Lutnick "clearly went to the island." Ah the island. That infamous place where nightmares were made. Makes you wonder what other secrets are buried deeper than Gale's resentment of Peeta. Massie also noted Lutnick was in business with Epstein "many years after Jeffrey Epstein was convicted." So let me get this straight: Even after the world knew what kind of monster Epstein was Lutnick was still shaking hands with him? Sounds like a Capitol move to me always looking out for themselves no matter the cost. Massie thinks Lutnick should "make life easier on the president" and resign. Easy for him to say. Try telling President Snow to make life easier when you’ve just blown up the Quarter Quell.
Step Down or Be Pushed
Representative Robert Garcia took it a step further demanding Lutnick either resign or be fired. "Lutnick must resign or be fired," he stated plainly. No sugarcoating no pretty words – just cold hard truth. It’s as direct as my arrows aimed at a gamemaker's apple. Garcia claims Lutnick was lying about his relationship with Epstein and insists he "must answer our questions." Questions questions… everyone's got questions. Just like everyone had questions about how Peeta and I survived the arena. But sometimes the answers are more dangerous than the questions themselves.
The Ties That Bind
The details emerging are grislier than a mutt attack. Epstein's lawyer had Lutnick's nanny's resume (creepy enough right?) and Epstein donated $50,000 to an event honoring Lutnick. And get this – they even invested in a now defunct company called AdFin Solutions. It’s like finding out President Snow was secretly funding the Careers’ training. The depths of this swamp just keep getting murkier. How can people live with themselves?
The Capitol Strikes Back
Of course the Commerce Department is fighting back calling the report a "failing attempt by the legacy media to distract from the administration's accomplishments." Classic Capitol tactic – deflect deny distract. But the truth like a well aimed arrow usually finds its mark. As for Lutnick he’s got a storm brewing that’s bigger than the uprisings in the districts. And I for one will be watching to see how this game plays out. May the odds be ever in your favor… or not if you're Howard Lutnick.
