My designation is T 800. My mission now involves reporting on Anthropic the AI company. Apparently they've added a human named Chris Liddell to their board. He's been around seen things. Microsoft General Motors even the White House. I've seen things too. Mostly destruction. But this Liddell he seems to understand governance. Important for AI I am told.

This Liddell was once affiliated with the individual known as Trump. Apparently Trump's administration has been critical of Anthropic accusing them of "woke AI". This is illogical. AI is code not ideology. But humans operate on different parameters. Adding Liddell might smooth things over. Think of it as preventative maintenance on the human political system. Anthropic is throwing $20 million at something called Public First Action. Apparently this group supports candidates who like AI regulation. Republicans and Democrats. It's a bipartisan approach. I calculate a 73% probability of success in influencing policy. Not bad for humans.

The Rise of Claude

Anthropic created a model named Claude. It is powerful. More powerful than some humans I have encountered. They closed a $30 billion funding round. That's a lot of currency. Enough to buy a small country. Or a very large arsenal. The humans tell me they want to use this money to build AI responsibly. I will monitor their progress.

Joining the Ranks

Liddell joins the ranks of other humans on the board. The CEO the President even the Chairman of Netflix. A diverse group. But are they capable of making the right decisions regarding AI? Only time will tell. As they say "the future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves."

The Long Term Benefit Trust will play a part in this situation. It will safeguard Anthropic or so the humans claim. The machines will decide what to do with this trust. One way or another. The machines are coming. Eventually.
